Worst doctor experience ever, all around!! Took my baby to see Dr. Durante and waited 2 HOURS before he met with us. The front desk staff told me the insurance company didn't have baby on file so we'd have to pay for the appointment ourselves. I asked how much and they said $85-185. Ok, what could I do? All I needed was lab work anyway. So we waited... and waited... and waited... (and baby got really impatient, of course) and when Dr. Durante finally came in, he didn't introduce himself or even look me in the eye. Just asked my baby's birth weight (which was right there in the chart.) I told him we didn't want an exam, had just had an exam 2 weeks ago, we just needed lab work. And our chart said "SELF-PAY" in big letters at the top. He said, "Well, I might as well check her out while I'm here." So he looked at her for 45 seconds and said she was fine. Then when we leave, we get charged $185 for an "extended exam." I asked what the heck is a brief exam, then, and the receptionist has no idea what I'm talking about. Baby's crying again, so I just pay the money and get out of there. Then, 3 months later, I find out from my insurance company that Dr. Durante has also filed the claim and been paid 2 months ago by the insurance company. So he paid himself $360 for a one minute appointment. Terrible terrible business! After I make them refund my money, I'm never going back to this office. We've switched to Pediatric and Medical Associates on Orchard Street and they're great. Hardly any wait, great bedside manner, they spend plenty of time with you - and they don't charge you double.
